The Driver will transport persons throughout areas of the Upper Cumberland region to and from designated locations in a safe, timely, and courteous manner; ensuring safe pick-up and delivery of clients to and from destinations all while providing excellent customer service and following all state laws and Agency policies.
Functions and Duties:
- Complete pre-trip inspections and required trip documentation, assess for and report vehicle issues, refuel vehicle as needed, and maintain vehicle cleanliness
- Collect fares and document and complete all required paperwork, and maintain client confidentiality
- Assist all persons regardless of varying mobility needs, weight, etc. with loading and unloading
- Properly load and secure wheelchair clients
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods, push wheelchair clients, lift/carry between 40-50 pounds, bend/stoop, climb stairs, and be physically and mentally fit according to DOT requirements
- Observe all traffic and safety regulations and report and document any/all accidents involving Agency vehicles, clients, etc.
- Driver is responsible for notifying the Agency of any tickets, citations, arrests and/or pending charges occurring on or off duty
Qualifications and Skills:
- Obtain and maintain at a minimum Class “D” Tennessee driver’s license with an “F” Endorsement
- Able to perform required job duties in various weather conditions
- Regular use of tablets, software, and other related technology including two-way radios
- Provide excellent customer service to all passengers and clients
- Effective communication both oral and written
- Possess and maintain an acceptable driving record that meets required guidelines, including Agency insurance requirements.
The successful applicant will possess a valid Tennessee Driver’s License with “F” Endorsement or higher. Attendance and completion of all required continued education classes and a DOT physical and negative drug/alcohol screen are required.
