The Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency (UCHRA) has announced its driver’s education class schedule for June through November 2026, offering a comprehensive program designed to prepare new drivers for success on the road.

Upcoming class dates are as follows:

  • June 2 – July 9
  • July 28 – Sept. 3
  • Sept. 22 – Nov. 3

Learning to drive is an important milestone, and UCHRA’s program combines classroom instruction with hands-on training to help students build the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to drive safely and responsibly. Instructors provide personalized guidance tailored to individual learning styles while covering essential topics such as traffic laws, defensive driving techniques, and real-world driving scenarios. The program also emphasizes practical experience, giving students the opportunity to develop safe driving habits behind the wheel.

The course includes 30 hours of classroom instruction and six hours of practical driving lessons. Students are also prepared for both the written exam and road test to ensure they feel confident and ready to succeed. Additional driving instruction is available for $30 per hour.

Upon successful completion of the course and achieving a score of 80 percent or higher on the final test, students will receive a certificate that meets state requirements and can be presented at a local Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to obtain a driver’s license.

Enrollment requirements include holding a valid learner’s permit prior to the start of class and being at least 15 years of age. Testing will take place on the final day of the course.

The cost of the six-week program is $375. Credit card payments can be made by calling (931) 520-9587. Payments by check, cashier’s check, or money order should be made payable to “UCHRA Drivers Ed” and delivered to the attention of Misty Turner at 580 S. Jefferson Ave., Suite B, Cookeville, TN 38501. When submitting payment, students should include their name, phone number, and email address in the memo line.
