Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency has an opening for a County Office Specialist to support the Putnam County UCHRA office. The County Office Specialist will perform public community service duties, operates a variety of office equipment; creates, maintains, and monitors computerized community service requests; responds to requests for service, and provides information to the general public and public agencies.

Duties include:

  • Perform a wide variety of clerical duties including answering a multi-line phone, data entry, and typing duties; maintaining accurate records; creating monthly reports
  • Provide a variety of public services information to the general public and other public agencies
  • Provide quality customer service and respond to public inquiries
  • Provide information and assistance to individuals interested in emergency assistance, housing, financial help, and other forms of public help
  • Interview potential clients and their family members, and use the information to compile a file related to their personal and professional history
  • Follow-up on appointments, community activities, and forms to ensure they are properly completed
  • Offer clients advice and information regarding community resources
  • Work with supervisors, managers, and other necessary department personnel to develop, review and refine current programs for families, single parents, mental health clients, and other individuals in need

Qualifications:

  • Modern office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers
  • Principles and procedures of record keeping. Knowledge of streets, landmarks, and geography of the Upper Cumberland
  • Ability to interact effectively with the public and co-workers when providing and/or receiving information
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to make timely and appropriate decisions regarding community service engagement
  • Gives permission for a background check and the background check meets agency requirements
  • The position requires a negative pre-employment drug test after the job offer.

The successful applicant will possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Experience working with the public to provide the knowledge abilities, and skills needed for the job. This position requires various public transit education classes to maintain and/or add new certifications during employment.
