The Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency (UCHRA) is currently accepting applications for Contract Energy Auditors to conduct pre- and post-audits for the Weatherization Program. The Weatherization Program (WP) is a federally funded program administered by the Tennessee Housing Administration (THDA).  WP provides basic insulation and weatherization measures for low-income households.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct residential energy audits to evaluate energy efficiency and the health and safety of a home
  • Use diagnostic tools to identify areas for energy savings
  • Educate customers about energy efficiency
  • Prepare summary audit reports which communicate building conditions and energy saving opportunities.
  • Work with contractors to assure a quality install
  • Maintain strong communication with the office staff, contractors and clients
  • Perform Quality Control Inspections on weatherized homes

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to pass various background checks
  • Ten (10) hours of OSHA training in the construction industry
  • Certified Renovator and Lead Safe Weatherization (LSW)
  • Active BPI Energy Auditor and Quality Control Inspector certifications, preferably with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience conducting home energy audits (contractors with appropriate industry background, and have the required BPI prerequisites to become certified, may be eligible for assistance in obtaining BPI certifications)
  • Liability insurance

Requirements:

  • Strong oral, computer, and written communication skills, with mathematical aptitude
  • Strong understanding of building science and home performance workflows
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
