The Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency (UCHRA) is currently accepting applications for a Classroom Teacher to serve the Chance Girls Home. The Classroom Teacher is responsible for educational curriculum and implementation at the group home.
- Instruct in all curriculum areas
- To maintain standards of conduct and enforce discipline as needed
- To report the progress of all students regularly
- To cooperate with other staff members in implementing the total treatment program
- To work toward achieving the goals of the transitional school
- To supervise the teacher’s assistant when they are working with students
- To serve as a member of the placement team in determining educational placement
- Give educational tests and give reports to the staffing team
- Other duties as assigned.
Necessary Skills/Capabilities:
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- detail-oriented
- May be required to sit for prolonged periods
- Ability to multitask
- Function and complete job duties within an office environment
- Experience in working with adolescents
- Such alternative or additional qualifications are appropriate or acceptable
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Function and complete job duties independently as assigned
- Valid Tennessee driver’s license
- Complete extensive background checks and fingerprinting
- Pass a TN DOT physical, unless otherwise identified.
Experience:
The successful applicant will possess a valid Tennessee Teacher License as a Highly Credentialed Special Education Teacher, grades 7-12 and also hold any below Licensure Endorsement:
• 460 SPED Modified K-12
• 461 SPED Comprehensive K-12
• 145 Interventionist
